About me

Having successfully completed a 4 year full-time Bachelor of Science degree in Osteopathic Medicine, I graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2005. Since qualifying I have been registered and working privately in a variety of clinical settings in Suffolk. These include Osteopathic practices, multidisciplinary health centres and GP surgeries.

Within my 19 years experience I spent 12 years growing and developing my own practice in Needham Market in Suffolk. Since 2023 I have been based in Stowmarket. I am passionate about bringing the benefits of osteopathy to my local community. Overall I have seen patients ranging from around 10 years old to my eldest patient of 94.

As well as Stowmarket, I see many patients from Needham Market, Ipswich, Hadleigh, and villages located between Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

Lifestyle Medicine and Coaching

In 2020 I completed a diploma in Lifestyle Medicine with the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, and offer lifestyle consultations, using an effective coaching approach with my clients.

Lifestyle factors are hugely influential in many aspects of both physical and mental health, and I feel very driven to encourage and help others find better health through making better choices and forming more healthy habits. These consultations can be done either face to face or remotely.

The importance of exercise

I feel very strongly about the importance of keeping active and using our bodies in positive and progressive ways. More and more evidence is telling us how beneficial movement is. It forms a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle and aids in the recovery or rehabilitation of pain and musculo-skeletal disorders.

In a bid to get people more active, I teach a gentle exercise class at Needham Market Community Centre, and a more challenging one at Creeting St Mary Village Hall, Near Needham Market.

Mobilise & Stretch

This involves warming up our joints and spine, followed by slower, static stretches and yoga inspired poses. The class is suitable for people of any age, and level of fitness or flexibility.

Nutrition

Whilst not a qualified nutritional therapist, my professional training included a significant amount of nutrition and dietetics. I have maintained a keen interest in nutrition, attending post graduate seminars on a regular basis, as well as reading and researching online as part of my professional development. I believe nutrition plays a huge role in overall health and I am able to provide simple recommendations and guidelines regarding healthy eating and the use of some of the more mainstream supplements available.

Prior to starting any new supplements, I do advise my patients to check with their GP or pharmacist that these wont interfere with their current prescribed medication.

Skin health

It it not just exercise and nutrition that has a strong influence on our general health, but the products that our skin comes into contact with too! A significant percentage of what we put on our skin, gets absorbed into our bodies, making the products we use quite important. Following considerable research I have a reasonable understanding of the ingredients and processing used in toiletries, cosmetics and household products. If you are interested to go down the route of using more natural, safe and ethical products I can point you in the right direction.

My interests

When I am not treating patients, I am kept busy and entertained by my 2 young boys, 5 pet rats and our new rescue dog.

In my spare time I enjoy weight training, HIIT (high intensity interval training), yoga, and a bit of light jogging here and there. I am also very casually attempting to learn to play the flute. As part of maintaining my own health and well being I practice deep breathing techniques and meditation on a regular basis.

After a long term interest in Reiki, I completed the first stage of training in 2021 and hope to offer Reiki treatments once I have completed further training.

GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND

Very dedicated to her work. Louise not only helps relieve problem areas but also helps others learn how to help themselves at home as well. Suggests affordable resources to help maintain the nutrition the body may need to help with certain stiffness or weakness. Louise also takes into consideration your life style and how to improve or assist in strengthing up your body and improving general health. By suggesting little changes that make a big difference Louise no doubt has a broad understanding and knowledge and can explain everything step by step even for the most nervous of people. Always understanding of circumstances and flexible to anything you throw at her. I wouldn’t go anywhere else as I feel the service Louise provides is greater than what I could find else where, friendly open and honest and does an amazing job.
